Missionary Eyes

I don't often agree with Rob Bell. There was a time when I quite enjoyed his perspective on things, but nowadays we seems to have a different idea of what Christianity is and should be. However I do agree with this statement: “Missions is less about the transportation of God from one place to another and more about the identification of a God who is already there. It is almost as if being a good missionary means having really good eyesight. Or maybe it means teaching people to use their eyes to see things that have always been there; they just didn’t realize it. You see God where others don’t. And then you point him out. Perhaps we ought to replace the word missionary with tour guide, because we cannot show people something we haven’t seen.” I like that! As a missionary that's exactly what I do: I have had an encounter with the living God, and I want everyone else to experience it as well; and I don't need to bring God with me across the oceans, I just need to open the eyes of others to the God of Romans (1:20) that is able to be clearly seen, even if only in creation.
