She Arrived!

Today my daughter was born. After 7 hours of labor my wife brought Amanda Joy Brown into this world. She is 7 pounds 11 ounces. I am in love with her already. I am so glad this adventure has begun.

We were so thankful that she was not born on Valentines' day. We kept praying that she would be born on February 14 or 26 (which is Katya's birthday.) So the Lord answered our prayer and labor started minutes after midnight. We called our doctor to meet us at the hospital, and of course it was -30 degrees Celsius and our car was completely dead. We called a taxi who was barreling through the snow at high speed. We arrive at 3AM. Katya is prepared and put in a room to wait, and I join her at around 4. At 5 the doctor arrives and checks everything out. The baby is turned around, but our doctor is a pro. So, with a few pushes and the doctor's helping hand our girl is righted. By six we are walking to the delivery room, and a half hour later everything is prepped and prepared for pushing. 7am on the dot she comes out with one last push. I am a daddy.

I get to pick them up in 2 days, but I don't get to be with them (although the doctor has promised me a few minutes tomorrow evening) but that's OK because I left the hospital to do a few more documents, and tomorrow hopefully they will give me another 90 registration in the country. Please pray that I would receive favor in this bureaucracy, I don't want to stay illegally or not be here for my daughter's homecoming. Now I am going to sleep.
